Cedar Incense :
Harvest mature cedar fronds, those of a dusty evergreen color. Avoid the newer growth, indicated by a lighter green color, thorns, and a more ‘pickled’ smell. Conversely, avoid older fronds that have begun to turn brown.
Pre-heat oven to 180 °Fahrenheit
Remove cedar from stems and place in oven-safe dish, baking sheet, etc.
Place in oven, stirring every twenty minutes or so. Will take around 3-4 hours, depending how much moisture is in the air & in the cedar.
The cedar is dry when it becomes crunchy enough to snap easily in your fingers, i.e. when it loses it’s rubberiness.
You can now burn the cedar on charcoal discs, in candles, campfires, etc.
Properties of cedar:
Purification, mental, emotional, & spiritual clarity, balance.Repels insects, esp. moths and termites. Use in sachets in closets, drawers.
The dried cedar can also be used to brew tea; high in vitamin C, anti-septic, anti-viral, helpful for colds, rheumatic conditions.
